Barry Hong, CEO & chairman Barry Hong is a Vancouver developer and style defining hotelier based in Beijing responsible for such landmark Vancouver hotels as the Le Soleil and The Meridian at 910 Beach. Hong’s Hotel Le Soleil was voted by JD Powers and Associates as the No. 1 hotel in the luxury Starwood chain. Other industry awards include, Condé Nast Traveler voting it as one of the ‘Top 50 Best Hotels’ in North America. Partnering with Starwood Hotels he basically re-wrote the operations manual and set the standards for the hotel, which exceeded all of Starwood’s luxury benchmarks. Barry is also considered one of North America’s leading pioneers when it comes to defining the condo hotel concept. His fresh thinking resulted with InStyle Magazine voting the Meridian one of the top places to stay in the world. His groundbreaking hotel concepts have changed the business and set industry standards that continue to be imitated in the Vancouver real estate market place and the world.A native son of Vancouver, Canada, Hong graduated from the University of British Columbia with an Asian Studies Degree and cut his teeth in the fast paced climate of Hong Kong and Asia in the 80’s and 90’s. Working with the likes of Dunning & Associates, and FGI, Hong was instrumental in syndicating and developing The Westin in Macau, and The Westin Tai-Ping -Yang, Shanghai to name but a few groundbreaking global initiatives.However, this is nothing compared with his infectious energy and entrepreneurial zest which makes an evening spent with him and a choice Okanagan wine very rewarding!
